The New Testament gives three reasons why it is important for Christians to assemble:
- We assemble to worship God (John 4:24).
- We assemble to encourage our brethren (Hebrews 10:25).
- We assemble to gain encouragement from our brethren (Hebrews 10:25).
Once we reach a point in which we need no encouragement because it has become impossible for us to fall, and all of our brethren are likewise in a perpetual state of godly perfection, and God is no longer worthy of worship, then assembling with the saints will not be important.
Of course, the first two conditions will never exist while we are here on the earth. The third condition will never exist – in this life or the next – nor has it ever existed. So let us not forsake the assembly (Hebrews 10:25).
