Here we are at another milestone. I officially launched this website on August 1, 2005. Although it may be hard to believe – at least it is for me – today is the 10th anniversary of Plain Bible Teaching and the start of year number 11.
To all of you who are readers of Plain Bible Teaching, I want to thank you for reading, commenting, and sharing these articles with others. And thanks for everyone who has offered words of encouragement about this work through the years. I hope that God has been and continues to be glorified through the efforts here and that whoever reads these articles might benefit from them as well.
In all honesty, six months ago, I didn’t know for sure that there would be an 11th year of Plain Bible Teaching. I planned to continue through the end of July so I could at least complete ten years since I was so close to that milestone. But the demands of family, preaching, secular work, and writing were starting to get to be more than I could handle. So I decided six months ago that if I wasn’t able to raise enough support to preach “full-time” by the summer (I had been trying to raise support for almost a year and a half), I would take a break from the writing here. I really didn’t want to do it, but I knew something would have to change. Fortunately, I was able to raise the support I needed to leave my secular job in May which means I can not only continue the teaching I’m doing here, but also focus more on the local church work. So I am happy to say that on the 10th anniversary of Plain Bible Teaching, this work is continuing rather than concluding or being suspended.
Free Gift
As a way of expressing my thanks to all of you for reading, in honor of this 10th anniversary, I’m going to give away 10 free copies of my book, The Root of the Problem: Why We Sin & How We Can Overcome. This offer is open to everyone.* I will randomly select the winners from those who complete the Plain Bible Teaching Reader Survey. Only one entry per person, please. The survey will be open until August 10, 2015 at 11:59pm CDT. After that the winners will be contacted so the books can be mailed out.
The Future of Plain Bible Teaching
Again, I am happy to say that Plain Bible Teaching is continuing rather than concluding or being suspended. For the time being, I expect to keep the same schedule with the articles and weekly newsletters (including a featured article from the archives rather than a new article for the last newsletter of the month).
However, I have been contemplating the possibility of adding a new feature to this site, but I have not settled on what that might be. One of the questions in the reader survey asks about what new feature(s) you might like to see. All of the ones listed are ideas I’ve had over the years and I have varying levels of interest in each one of them. But I wanted to get some feedback from you, the readers, to see what might be beneficial if I do decide to add a new feature. [Survey no longer active.]
Follow Plain Bible Teaching
If you aren’t already on the mailing list to receive the Plain Bible Teaching Weekly Newsletter, please subscribe. You’ll receive the free newsletter every Friday, and maybe one or two more emails through the year.
If you use social media, please “like” Plain Bible Teaching on Facebook and follow Plain Bible Teaching on Twitter (new) and then share these articles with your friends to help teach them about the word of God.
Thank You
Thanks again for all of your support and encouragement over the last ten years. I hope the next ten years will be even better.

*I considered making the offer of a free book available only to those in the United States due to the substantially greater cost to ship packages outside the country. But I didn’t want to exclude the good readers I have from other countries. So I decided that of the 10 winners, I will allow up to 2 to be non-U.S. residents. However, since these will be randomly chosen, it’s possible that none of the winners will be non-U.S. residents. But I wanted to at least give readers from other countries a chance to receive one of the free books.
