New Location for the PBT Blog

I had been using Blogger for this blog for over 2 years. Now I’ve switched over to WordPress. As a result, the blog at the old address will no longer be updated. If you have the page bookmarked, please update to the new link.

So why the change?

First of all, WordPress is just better. I’ve been using both WordPress and Blogger on different blogs that I maintain. WordPress is easier to use and customize. Nothing against Blogger. It’s a good, free service for someone who doesn’t want to pay for web hosting. But since I’m already paying for web hosting with the main site, that wasn’t a factor. I’d been putting off making the change for a while. Now that I’ve finally done it, and am sitting here typing a new post, I’m glad I’ve got it done now.

I also switched because WordPress themes can be built or customized more easily than with Blogger (at least in my opinion). If you visited the old blog, you probably noticed very quickly upon arriving at the new location that the look was different. In both cases though, the blog looks different than the main site. Eventually, that will change. I’m planning on revamping both the main site and the blog (the blog just uses a free template for now). When I do, they will match each other. So if you move from one to the other, it won’t look like you’re going to a different site. I am tentatively planning on having this done by August to coincide with the beginning of Plain Bible Teaching’s 5th year of publication online.

Lastly, I’m also planning on using this blog more than I have in the past. Through the end of last year, I had typically posted about 3 articles a month on the blog, in addition to announcements about new content on the main site. I’m going to try to at least double the number of posts per month. In addition to the short articles and announcements that I have been doing all along, I also plan to post comments about religious news stories and other current events (insofar that there is a spiritual lesson we can take from them), links to articles or other materials that I believe are profitable, occasional book reviews, and hymns that I have written (as I have taken up an interest in that). Since I’m doing more things with the blog, it seemed like a good time to make the switch.

So now you know how we got here and what my plans are. If you haven’t subscribed yet, you can click on one of the links at the top of the right column to subscribe either through email or your preferred feed reader. If you have already subscribed to the feed from the old blog, you don’t have to do anything. The feed location is the same.

Thanks for visiting.
