"God Does Nothing Unless He Reveals His Secret Counsel" (Season 8, Episode 8)

When a calamity occurs, is God the one behind it? When a tragedy strikes, is God trying to send some sort of message? People wonder about these things all of the time. As a result, they spend many hours speculating, wondering, and worrying over some message from God that they assume must be interwoven in the events of their life. So they try to figure out what God is trying to show them. We need to remember Amos 3:7 – “Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret counsel.

Characteristics of Truth (Season 8, Episode 7)

While it is important that we understand that the word of God is truth (John 17:17), it is also important that we appreciate various characteristics of truth. Certainly there are those who do not accept the Bible as truth; but of those who do (or claim that they do), many simply do not understand the nature of this truth. It is not whatever we want it to be. Truth is from the mind of God whose ways are infinitely higher than our own (Isaiah 55:8-9; 1 Corinthians 1:25). In this episode, we’re going to consider six characteristics of truth.

Is Divine Revelation Ongoing Today? (Season 8, Episode 6)

Paul told the Ephesians about the mystery he received by revelation (Ephesians 3:1-3). He was referring to divine revelation – a message that came from God. As an apostle (Ephesians 1:1), the Holy Spirit guided him “into all the truth” (John 16:13) so that he could say, “The things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment” (1 Corinthians 14:37). Does this type of divine revelation still occur today? Many people claim to receive messages directly from heaven. But does God reveal His will directly to people today like He did with Paul and others? It is important that we know the answer to that question.

How God Is Able to Establish You (Season 8, Episode 5)

As Paul concluded his epistle to the Romans, he praised God for His ability to establish them (Romans 16:25-27). This means He was able to make them strong, complete, and equipped to follow Him and to face the trials that exist in this life. Is God able to establish us today? If so, how? In this episode, we will briefly consider what Paul said in this passage as it relates to how God is able to establish us today.

Shortcuts to Bible Study (Season 8, Episode 4)

A great problem that exists in religion is that many do not want to study their Bibles. They come up with different excuses – they are busy, they do not understand, etc. So instead of studying the Bible, they look for shortcuts – ways to get around having to study much themselves. In this episode, we’re going to consider five “shortcuts” and notice what the Bible has to say about them.

Profitable Bible Studies (Season 8, Episode 3)

In our busy society, few people have tolerance for anything they perceive to be a waste of their time. The Scriptures do teach us to make the most of our time (Ephesians 5:16), so we should strive to do this in all things. When it comes to our periods of Bible study – particularly the times when we gather with other Christians to study together – how can we be sure our time is spent profitably? In this episode, we’re going to notice four factors that will help determine the profitability of our Bible studies.
